Who this covers
This policy explains how the Larpcord software and this website handle information. It does not cover Discord itself: Discord's own privacy policy applies to your use of Discord.
What stays on your computer
Larpcord stores the following on your computer, in %APPDATA%\Larpcord (on macOS, ~/Library/Application Support/Larpcord):
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your local profile (display name, username, about me, badges, decorations, colours, name style, server tag) | So Larpcord can show them in your Discord |
| The avatar and banner pictures you choose | So they can be shown without uploading them |
| Copies of badge artwork and Discord's badge list | So the badge picker works quickly and offline |
| A log file of what Larpcord did | To help fix problems; it is never sent anywhere |
This installation's key (identity.json) | To sign what you upload while you are online, so nobody else can change your look. The private half never leaves your computer |
The Larpcord program files (app folder) | To run Larpcord inside Discord |
Deleting the folder removes all of this. What you share online (next sections) is kept on the Larpcord server as well, until you switch Online off.
What Larpcord never does
- It never sends your local profile to Discord. Your real profile on Discord is not changed.
- Only while Online is on does it send your look to the Larpcord server (see below), and nothing else about you, your messages or your settings.
- It never reads, stores or sends your Discord password or login token.
- It never reads or uploads your messages.
- It has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
When Larpcord goes online
Update checks
A little after Discord starts, and then every few hours, Larpcord asks this website for the latest version number (/version.json). The installer does the same when you open it. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address and a basic description of the software making the request to the website's server. No information about you or your account is included.
Online: sharing your look with other Larpcord users
While Online is on (Larpcord's settings, on by default) and your local profile is on, Larpcord sends the Larpcord server your Discord user id and the look you set up: display name, username, about me, badges, decoration, nameplate, profile effect and frame, colours, name style, server tag, join date and your avatar and banner pictures. Anyone using Larpcord can fetch it by your user id, which is how they see your look. It is stored together with a random public key made for your installation; this key, not a login, is what lets only you change it. We do not store your Discord password, token, messages or email address.
To show other people's looks, Larpcord asks the server about the user ids it comes across in the Discord window you are looking at (not their messages or names). The server therefore sees those ids, together with your IP address, for as long as that request takes; we do not keep a list of what you looked at.
Switch Online off, or turn off the local profile, and Larpcord deletes what it shared from the server. The claim on your user id stays, so nobody else can take it over. To have something removed that Larpcord cannot remove itself, contact us below.
Templates: sharing a look
Templates are saved on your computer. Only when you press Share on one does it go to the Larpcord server, together with the name you gave it, the parts of your look in it (never your pictures) and who it is for. Everyone: anyone with its code can open it, and it is listed for everyone to browse. My friends: to deliver it, Larpcord sends the server the Discord user ids of the friends it is for (up to 200); One person: that person's id. Whoever it is for finds it in their Larpcord Templates page, and can accept or decline it. Anything you shared can be taken back from the Templates page, which removes it for everyone it reached. Online must be on to share, and sharing needs nothing but the templates you choose to share.
Discord's own servers
To show official badges and decorations, Larpcord loads their artwork and catalogues from Discord's servers, the same way the Discord app itself does. Discord's privacy policy applies to those requests.
This website
This website does not use cookies, accounts, analytics or tracking scripts. When you visit it or download Larpcord, the web server receives standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and the pages requested; this is used only to deliver the site and keep it working.
Third parties
To display properly, this website loads a few resources from other services, which receive your IP address and browser information when they do:
- Fonts from Google Fonts and Fontshare.
- Icons and smooth scrolling (Lucide, Lenis) from the unpkg content network.
- Badge artwork from Discord's content network.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not share any information with them ourselves.
Your choices and rights
You are in control of your data: you can change it in Larpcord's settings, switch Online off to have it removed from the Larpcord server, or remove everything on your computer by uninstalling Larpcord and deleting %APPDATA%\Larpcord. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights over information a website's server receives; contact us below to use them.
Children
Larpcord is meant for people old enough to use Discord where they live. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the "Last updated" date above. If Larpcord ever starts handling information in a new way, we will update this policy before it does.
